Today my new single Red Flag Green is finally out 🤍
This song means a lot to me because it started from a very real place. When I was younger, with my glasses, very little money and huge dreams, I genuinely believed I could become a pop artist. I remember one teacher basically implying it was all just “expensive dreams” and unrealistic. he even said you will never be a star
I think part of me has spent years trying to prove that younger version of myself right for believing anyway.
The song opens with:
“Hey it’s me
I haven’t been the same since I was 17
When I emptied out my pockets and they said you are expensive dreams, well…”
A lot of this song was written like a diary entry. It’s about trying to keep moving forward while feeling emotionally lost underneath it all.
“Now I’m running round in circles
painting all the red flags green…”
